Elemental 5Star
ELEMENTAL'S OBJECTIVE & GOAL
Peace & Blessings to everyone in our ever growing ever changing community & culture we know as Hip-Hop. I first became a B-Boy in 1977 although I didn't know that's what it was. I heard at a basement party in Cincinnati, Oh for the first time Kraftwerks "Trans-Europe Express" and haven't been the same since. What's really funny is that I consider myself a B-Boy even though I can't break-dance nor can I bomb. My discipline has always been DJing and producing Underground Hip-Hop. Now in saying that I have always felt like all the elements that make up Hip-Hop should have never been separated. The industry has us all separated and broken and enough is enough. I'm sick of seeing MC's on stage with no DJ and vise-verse. For the most part we never get to see all the elements during the same time so we only get a small part of what our culture is about. That is what this blog is about all the elements presented as one cohesive unit...you know "Fresh ta Def"!!! I have lived all my adult life doing what I can to elevate our culture. We have lost our way and we have to take it back before they brand it with a new name like Neo-Rapping. Don't sleep it happened with Soul music its now called Neo-Soul. There is no such thing as Neo-Soul! You just need to have soul and you will be just fine. Now we got 'Rappers' which is code for I don't have any skills!!! What element is that? Hell if I know! See when I hear someone say they are an MC I know where they are coming from(doesn't make them a dope MC's sometimes but I understand the mind set)! This is a culture and we need to preserve it and right this disservice that we have allowed for to damn long, I don't understand why things aren't 'dope' or 'fresh' anymore? Those words are not hardly used enough!!! I remember when the term 'Hot' started being used it caught on like a leech. "Yo that beat is hot"...are you fucking kidding me? Every time I heard it being used it sent up a red flag to me...code named "Wack"! It was just another industry term that choked the life out of what we always know to be "Skills"
